CIA Story – Phillips State Prison

Posted by

I joined a CIA group that went to Phillips State Prison. I had no idea what to expect when I signed up, but I just knew that God wanted me to be a part of CIA. We visited a small group of men, ate lunch with them and played bingo.

Throughout our visit, the men were extremely gracious and truly happy to see us. Many have been imprisoned for 10 years or more, but the joy on their faces was more than I normally see on the street in a given day. They made gifts for each one of us and in the end, I was the one who was blessed.

The visit helped me realize that it doesn’t matter what occupation you have. Life is more than earning a paycheck and having things. It’s all in the attitude and your willingness to do all for the glory for God, no matter what that is. The inmates showed me that life is worth living just because Jesus lives inside.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this team.
